From May 3 to 7 the Palais des Expositions in Algiers was host to the 2026 edition of BATIMATEC, the International Show for Building, Building Materials and Public Works (https://www.batimatecexpo.com/). The Algerian event drew more than 900 exhibitor companies – more than a third of them foreign – displaying on an area of 40,000 square meters, and was confirmed as the reference event for the African continent’s operators involved in building processes and technologies.
Again this year CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE – in collaboration with ICE-Agency, with support from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and in the framework of promotional work for the techno-stone industry – organized an Italian area at the Algerian show, where some of the top Italian stone technology companies were on display: BIESSE – BM – BOART & WIRE – BRETON – CASSANI CARLO – COMANDULLI COSTRUZIONI MECCANICHE – D. WIRE – DELLAS – DIEFENBACH – FAEDO INTERNATIONAL – FRACCAROLI & BALZAN – GASPARI MENOTTI TECHNOLOGIES – I.C.F. & WELKO – ISABRASIVI – LAMETER – MARMOMACCHINE INTERNATIONAL – PRECISION DIAMOND TECH – PREXOR – PROMETEC – SIMEC – TENAX.

Supporting Italian participation at BATIMATEC 2026 the area also offered an inviting Meeting Point Italia with informative and assistance services for exhibiting and visiting companies.
In the context of the building sector, the natural stone industry has long drawn the attention of the Algerian government, interested in technology and know-how for the growth of the country’s stone sector. According to data processed by the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Studies Center, in 2025 Algeria was again a strategic market for Italy’s stone sector exports, with purchases of stone materials and technologies worth more than $US 17 million.

In regard to cooperation between the two countries, we remind readers that a Coordination and Control Committee was recently set up for creation of a technological stone sector training center in Algeria, a strategic infrastructure for disseminating Italian know-how and the use of advanced technologies in the Algerian stone industry. The project, created thanks to the agreement signed last July between ICE-Agency and the North African country at the Italy-Algeria business forum in Rome, is also backed by CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE and its Algerian counterpart FAMMIP (Fédération Algérienne des Minéraux du secteur Minier et l’Industrie de la Pierre).
