Italian stone technologies: exports stable in 2025

14 June 2026

After the heavy downturn in 2024, last year ended with a substantial stability in exports from Italian makers of technologies for extracting and processing natural stones. According to final statistics for 2025 processed by the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Studies Center – which will be presented at the association’s General Assembly this coming June 26 – the foreign sales of the Italian techno-stone sector amounted to worth of just over $US 1 billion (1,027.2 million), in line with the previous year’s sales (-0.8%).

The non-recuperation of the market shares lost in 2024 was in the first place due to the stagnation in global stone trading in place – caused mainly by geopolitical instability – and the consequent decrease in technological investments by important markets for the sector (North America and the Middle East in particular), as well as by increasing international competition.

Even in 2025 there was, unfortunately, a marked decline (-12.6%) in sales to the USA, although it remained by far the biggest buyer of stone-working technologies Made in Italy with imports worth $US 129.6 million. On the other hand, there was decided growth in sales to two top players like Turkey (+17%), the second-ranking importer with purchases worth 87.1 million, and Spain (+46.7%), the third market for Italian stone technologies with 85.4 million in imports. Also on the upswing were exports to Germany (+55.2%, 66.6 million), while they decreased to France (-11.3%, 52.6 million).
