According to Turkstat data, in the first seven months of 2025 Turkey’s natural stone exports amounted to 3.3 million tons, worth $US 1,135 million. Compared to the same period in 2024, while somewhat less in quantity (-2.5%) was sold abroad there was a 5.4% increase in worth, with an average price of the materials exported that rose to $US 343.70/ton.
We remind readers that in 2024 Turkey’s stone exports had dropped on an annual basis by 11.7% in volume (for 6.3 million tons) and by 7% in worth (to $US 1,935.5 million). Driving the uptake in 2025 exports were sales of finished and semi-finished products in marble (worth $US 562.5 million, +11.6%) and travertine (193.1 million, +9.1%) while there was a downturn in foreign sales of raw materials (314.4 million, -5.4%).
From January to July 2025, the top market was the United States, with purchases worth $US 273 million, up 12.6% from 2024, followed by China – until two years ago the number one market for Turkey’s stone exports, mainly of raw – with 200 million in imports (-8.1%) and India (69.9 million, -1.5%), Saudi Arabia (59.9 million, -10.3%) and France (59.2 million, +2.3%).
As for trade with Italy, in the first eight months of last year Italy’s exports to Turkey (the second-ranking market after the US) of stone extraction and processing technologies remained on the excellent levels of 2023 (+0.5%), surpassing 51 million euros (data from the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Studies Center).
