In 2017 the construction of new shopping centers in Europe slowed down

In 2017 in Europe construction was completed for 3.8 million square meters of new malls or stores, 23% less than in 2016. On the level of macro-areas, in
Western Europe 1.5 million square meters more were built, a drop of 22.7%, while in Central and Eastern Europe 2.3 million square meters were developed (-23.7%). These figures are from the “European Shopping Centre Development” report published by the Cushman & Wakefield real estate consultancy company.
