According to the annual report issued by the Spanish stone sector association, Cluster Piedra, in 2025 the country’s natural stone output was worth 1.417 million euros, about the same as the previous year. However, exports decreased to 754.4 million euros (3.8% less than in 2024) while imports rose to 166.2 million (+15.4%).

Concentrating on exports, the study shows that the worth of raw stone materials sold abroad in 2025 was 117.3 million euros, a 10.6% increase from the previous year, while for the finished product component – which accounts for 84% of Spain’s foreign sales – there was a decrease of 6%, for 637.1 million. In detail, more than 45% of Spain’s finished stone exports (worth 344.4 million, down 7.5% from 2024) were in worked slate – of which Spain is the world’s top exporter – while manufactures in marble held a 24.3% share (for 183 million, -1.2%) and finished products in granite accounted for 14.5% (for 109.7 million, -8.9%).

In 2025 the main markets for Spain’s stone exports were France (220.8 million euros, -6.5% from the previous year), the United Kingdom (99.7 million, -14%), Germany (48.4 million, +0.7%), the United States (43 million, -16.5%) and Morocco (42.2 million, +2.8%).

As concerns trade with Italy, according to official statistics processed by the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Studies Center, last year Spain was in third place – behind the US and Turkey – among buyers of Italian machines, lines, equipment and tools for extracting and processing ornamental stones, with imports worth $US 85.4 million (+46,7% on an annual basis).
