In the first ten months of 2025 Switzerland’s natural stone imports grew by 6.2% from the same period in 2024, for worth of $US229 million (data from the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Studies Center).
Italy, with $US104.7 million in sales (-1.4% on an annual basis) was the top supplier of stone materials – mostly finished products – for the Swiss market, with a more than 45% share, followed by Germany with 29.4 million (-5.8%), France, with 19.1 million (+18%) and Portugal with 15.6 million (+17%).
We remind readers that Switzerland – neck and neck with Saudi Arabia – is the country with the highest per capita amount of stone use in the world, 1.699 square meters per 1,000 inhabitants.
